Gapan, a fourth-class city within Nueva Ecija, hosts an approximate population of 125,000 residents. Exploring the city for potential residence offers various appealing factors. Familiarizing oneself with Gapan’s details is advantageous, particularly for those interested in purchasing property there. Here are some suggested things to do in Gapan, Nueva Ecija!
1.) Little Vigan
Lumang Gapan, also known as the Little Vigan of Gapan City, stands as a Heritage site within the heart of Gapan City in Nueva Ecija. This attraction showcases cobbled streets, antique lamp posts, the historic town hall of Gapan, and a series of meticulously maintained ancestral homes dating back to the Spanish and American colonial eras in the Philippines. Several of these ancestral houses in Little Vigan were formerly owned by well-known Filipino personalities. Positioned along Jacinto and Delos Reyes Streets, this site offers a glimpse into the city’s rich historical heritage. (Swipe below photo for more pictures)
2.) Food Trip
If you go to Gapan, make sure to visit this heritage restaurant known for offering the finest Novo Ecijano cuisine. Our personal favorite was their baked bangus, a dish we tried for the first time, and it perfectly complemented their delicious chopsuey. (Swipe below photo for more pictures)
3.) Malling
The Filipino culture has embraced mall-going so deeply that it has its own term: “malling.” This word is universally understood among Filipinos. Exploring malls is a common activity wherever we go, and Gapan boasts several notable ones, such as SM Gapan and Robinson Gapan. (Swipe below photo for more pictures)
4.) Visit Gapan City Plaza
Gapan City Plaza stands out due to its adorned lanterns, even beyond the Christmas season. The plaza hosts a night market offering various food and clothing items for shoppers. In 2019, it showcased a 100-foot Christmas tree, the longest tunnel of lights flaunting over 50,000 bulbs, a 45-meter tall Ferris wheel, and a giant lantern, making it a highlight in Nueva Ecija.
