10 Things To Do in Tanay, Rizal, Philippines

Posted by

According to Joan, a Tanay local and a waitress in the resort we are currently checked-in, there are a lot of places to visit in Tanay (e.g. visiting eco-parks, staying in resorts, bathing in various falls and rivers, meeting your new boyfriend, etcetera). Here our own list of activities that you may also do while in Tanay!

1.) Bond in Daranak Falls

It does not involve much hiking in order to get into this crystal clear cool water falls. We just asked our tricycle driver to stop by here before dropping us off in our resort.

2.) Eat at The Gathering Cafe

D’gathering cafe is the one nearest in our resort. It has a nice eco ambience. Staffs are also polite and neat-looking. In their food menu, our favorites would be their spicy lomi and pancit canton.

3.) Staycation in The Cabanas at Tanay Hills

We spent the night here in The Cabanas at Tanay Hills. We enjoyed walking along multi-colored cabanas (swipe left below image for more pictures) and the calming shade of trees in the resort. They also have a big pool, although at that time, it is not yet operational.

We spent so much time talking as husband and wife because there was no internet.. It was a nice detox from social media as there is not really much signal when your resort is almost on top of the mountain. We had a lot of time reflecting on ourselves, our relationships, and dreams.

For more info, you may check out their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/CabanasAtTanayHills

4.) Buy Tanay Hills Coffee

We can’t believe at first but we were told by the staffs that coffee is actually one of the best products of Tanay. It is normally showcased during tourism fairs/ exhibits. Liezel bought some for her home brews.

5.) Team Building at Bakasyunan Resort

We had our company team building last 2015 in this resort. It is one of the nice team building sites we can recommend near Metro Manila.

6.) Get a shot of the Windmills

We thought that Windmills are only seen in Ilocos Norte. We are inspired that Tanay has been adapting a sustainable source of energy for more than a decade now.

7.) Hike at Masungi Georeserve

We wanted to walk over that spider web structure but we do not like hiking for long hours and being exposed under the sun. This place can be fun for you though!

8.) Pray at Regina Rica

Our tricycle driver said that it will take us 20minutes to reach Regina Rica. It is a fair hike but we were told that it is actually closed on Tuesdays (the day of our visit).

9.) Hike at Mount Daraitan

This can be fun for you!

10.) Get your IG-worthy photo of Tinipak River

You may pass by this river during your Mt. Daraitan hike. This can be fun for you!

How to Commute to Tanay: As we live in Santa Cruz, Laguna, our starting point would be from Santa Cruz, Laguna. 1.) Get a jeepney going to Siniloan. 2.) Get a Jeepeny Going to Tanay from Siniloan Public Market. 3.) Get a Tricycle from Tanay Public Market going to Brgy. Sampaloc where Daranak Falls, The Cabanas at Tanay Hills, Windmills, and Regina Rica are almost nearby.

  1. Nice list! Rizal is really beautiful. We’re actually planning to do a side-trip in Rizal for our anniversary. A quick visit to Tinipak River sounds awesome, or maybe we’ll stop by an alfresco restaurant, really depends on our mood when we get there 😉
