On our journey in visiting all of the provinces in the Philippines, Antique has become our 44th province by visiting its capital town San Jose Buenavista. For sure, we will add more on this list as we just stayed there for a couple of hours. For now, here are our Top 6 Things To Do in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, Philippines.
1.) Food Trip
As it is very near to the sea, San Jose de Buenavista offers the perfect opportunity to indulge in affordable and fresh seafood. When visiting the area, many have found delight in discovering the abundance of delectable seafood options. Those in the know often recommend JJ Seafoods & Restaurant as a prime destination to savor some of the finest seafood dishes available. 2.) Shopping
The newly opened Robinsons Place Antique mall is an exciting addition to the local community, offering a wide array of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. With its modern architecture and spacious layout, it provides a welcoming environment for visitors to explore and indulge in a delightful retail experience. As a significant development for the province of Antique, this mall is poised to become a bustling hub for leisure and social gatherings, contributing to the overall growth and vibrancy of the region. 3.) Visit Historical Landmarks
Start your journey at San Jose de Buenavista Park, where you’ll find numerous monuments and historical buildings just a few meters away. 4.) Cafe
The cafes in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique offer a delightful mix of traditional and modern coffee experiences. Visitors can savor locally grown beans prepared with both classic and innovative methods, creating a rich tapestry of flavors and aromas. 5.) Buy Souvenirs
Inside Antique’s old provincial capitol building is Tindahang Lokal, a project of Senator Loren Legarda. Here you can buy amazing souvenirs such as local food products, keychains, ref magnets, and fabrics. (Swipe below photo for more pictures)
6.) Get near Nature
The thrill of our closest brush with Antique’s natural beauty lies in the bus journey along its coastal stretches and rice fields. It was an exhilarating experience, beholding the point where the mountains embrace the sea. On our next visit, we are looking forward to go to Malumpati Cold Spring, a natural wonder that provides a refreshing escape from the tropical heat.
How to go to Antique: There would be many points of entry- it could be via their airport or shipping ports or border crossings from its neighboring provinces (Aklan or Iloilo). In our case, we rode the Ceres bus going to San Jose de Buenavista. The Ceres buses bound for Antique are located in the Ceres Bus Terminal in Mohon, Iloilo City.
