4 Activities to do in a layover in Singapore

Posted by

Singapore is an expensive but small city. If you are a budget traveller, you may try exploring it within a day. On a minimum layover of 8 hours, you can go out of the airport and visit its landmarks.

1.) For breakfast. Have a memorable photo with the iconic Merlion and Marina Bay Sands

2.) For lunch. Roam around the National University of Singapore- Asia’s top university

3.) For merienda. Have a photo in front of Universal Studio Singapore’s Globe. Entrance is free unless you enter special booths or nearby attractions such as the wax museum, etc.

4.) For Dinner. Spend the romantic night in Garden by the Bay before you go back to the airport!

  1. I’m Singaporean myself, so I *had* to check out this post XD If you want to get the most mileage out of your time in Singapore, you honestly need to try the local food – pop in to any hawker centre and order a plate of chicken rice or satay or roti prata. I never knew NUS could be a backpacking destination, either! I’d recommend a set of activities that are pretty different from what you wrote about, but I’d have to say the ‘touristy’ places can still be quite fun.

    1. Thank you Moony. I would certainly love it the next time I visit. Please watch out for my post.. and I hope I can ask you more on food 🙂

  2. Yup i have to agree with Moony, singapore is more interesting if u can find some time in your next visit, to explore their food. Being a Malaysian (with foods around), I still find singaporean food the best! Hehe. Luv em! Been to Manila and elsewhere in Phil, the first thing i did, look for some authentic foods, amazing! Only after that, i explore more abt the places hehe. Well each of us do have our own interest, maybe for me and moony, food reflects the culture and thoughts of the locals. Nice post though, made me miss singapore!

    1. Hi Lan, maybe reason is I am watching carefully my abs diet. But that’s true- food should be part of the visit especially if it’s a southeast Asian country. Thank you for the advise. I am currently making a post on malaysia, I think I failed to get a picture of what I ate- but it is chicken with coconut and peanuts. If you have a picture perhaps you could send me one here- nathannunag@icloud.com
