Posted by After moving to our new home here in Australia, I collated the pictures on my iPhone and some of the pictures are the churches I have visited all around the Philippines. Normally, every time we visit a province, visiting a church is a must as we believe it is a reflection of the town as well. In these churches, I also left my good prayers for good health, to be successful, to be rich, and to be happy not only for me but for my family and friends as well. Each church holds a special memory for me; the unique architecture, the fragrant incense, and the hushed whispers of faith create an atmosphere that feels almost sacred. As I ponder my journey from one church to another, I am reminded of the kindness of the people I met along the way, their stories intertwining with my own as we share the same hopes and dreams. It is in those moments of quiet reflection that I truly appreciate the blessings in my life, and I carry those prayers with me, hoping they resonate across the miles, bringing peace and joy to everyone I love.

2.) Santo Tomas de Villanueva Church (also known as Miagao Church)

3.) Naga Metropolitan Cathedral
The Naga Metropolitan Cathedral is the largest church in Bicolandia (region in the Philippines which is composed of 6 provinces- Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Catanduanes, Sorsogon and Masbate). The Cathedral plays a very important role during Peñafrancia Festival’s Traslacion. Every September, the image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia is transferred to the Cathedral from the Basilica Minore, the image’s home. In front of the Cathedral is Porta Mariae, a symbolic gate arch which imbues the journey of Marian devotion in Bicol. (Swipe below photo for more pictures)
4.) Peñafrancia Basilica Minore
Peñafrancia Basilica Minore in Naga City is the home of Our Lady of Peñafrancia since 1985 when it was completely built. At the front entrance of the church is a huge and colorful glass mural depicting Our Lady of Peñafrancia. 5.) Daraga Church
Daraga Church, formally known as the Our Lady of the Gate Parish, is a historic and architectural gem located in Daraga, Albay province. 7.) Church of Liliw
The ecclesiastical administration of Liliw belonged to Nagcarlan, Laguna up to 1605. During this period, Liliw was not yet an independent parish, which affected its local governance and spiritual affairs. The Church and convent of Lilio (now known as Church of Liliw) were seriously damaged by earthquakes in 1880, which not only compromised the structural integrity of the buildings but also disrupted the community’s religious activities. Following these devastating natural events, efforts to reconstruct the church began, showcasing the locals’ resilience and commitment to their faith. However, tragedy struck again when the reconstructed church was partly burned on April 6, 1890, a calamity that added to the challenges faced by the parishioners as they sought to rebuild their place of worship and maintain their spiritual traditions amidst adversity. 8.) Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian

37.) Saints Peter and Paul Parish – Poblacion, Makati
Some of the churches are more than 400 centuries old. The first to eight photo on below slideshow is the Saints Peter and Paul Church located in Poblacion, the oldest part of Makati. The Franciscans were the first missionaries here in 1578. The Jesuits built this church in 1620 and administered it until 1768. Adjoining were the novitiate for the Jesuits and a house of retreat. Both the church and novitiate were dedicated to San Pedro in memory of the Rev. Pedro de los Montes, builder of the church and of Captain Pedro de Britto, Regidor of Manila, who donated the site called Buenavista in 1607 and endowed the novitiate. 39.) St. Joseph Shrine Diocese of Cubao
We have prayed twice in St. Joseph Shrine Diocese of Cubao which is located near Anonas LRT2 Station. In front of the church is a commissioned Jubilee Door presenting traditional Christian Symbols. The artist behind the Shrine’s holy door wants to give a subtle classical vibe to cold and almost clinical surroundings, with the help of traditional Christian symbols. The design has to be fitting with the modern look of the church’s present interior which has a brutalist architectural theme. With touch of Art Deco (circles, diamonds, symetrical shapes, straight & smooth lines), the use of simple and less complicated symbols and shapes are reflected in the overall concept of the holy door’s design. The quatrefoil shapes represent the 4 evangelists of the bible: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The fleur-de-lis within the quatrefoil shapes give significance to this year of St. Joseph. Church of Santa Cruz, dedicated to Our Lady of the Immaculate Concepcion, was originally constructed of stone in 1608 under the direction of Franciscan Father Antonio De La Llave, the first parish priest. Enlarged in 1672 by Father Miguel Perciva with the addition of two wings giving the church the form of a cross. In 1850, Father Juan Antonio Marzo built the principal nave and the convent and remodelled the five altars. Destroyed by fire on 26 January 1945 during the liberation. St. Michael The Archangel Parish was known once as the oldest church in Cavite. It was originally constructed using bamboos, straws and nipa leaves in 1669. The church was renovated with adobe and tegula during the term of Priest and Philippine National Hero Fr. Mariano Gomes from 1824 to 1872. Beside the church, a plaza was built to honor Fr. The church was also built under the name of St. Raphael, the patron saint of fishermen. Legazpi was previously a fishing town. Unlike Legazpi Cathedral which faces the sea, the Church of Legazpi faces against the sea.
