We enjoyed our post-Valentine’s date at the Cucina Buffet of Marco Polo Ortigas Hotel Manila, which was recently awarded the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star for the second consecutive year. Situated on the 24th floor, the restaurant provides a romantic ambiance overlooking Ortigas City. The interiors boast impressive cosmic egg chandeliers and a wall art installation by the acclaimed Filipino artist Jinggoy Buensuceso. Upon arrival, courteous staff members escorted us to our reserved table. The buffet features an interactive open kitchen, offering a delightful selection of fresh, healthy, innovative Continental and Asian cuisines.

The wall behind us was commissioned by award-winning Filipino artist Jinggoy Buensuceso.

Starting the buffet’s queue are well-known expensive blue crabs, curachas, prawns, and mussels. Following these delectable seafood offerings, guests can indulge in a wide array of options, including a fresh vegetable salad bar, appetizers such as fusiul, salami, and zucchini with pesto sauce, tuna nicoise, and beetroot apple with feta cheese. Next, a selection of Vietnamese dishes awaits, featuring Goi Cuon (vegetable spring roll), Nom Bo Kho (green papaya with dried beef), and Goi Ca (Vietnamese cold chicken salad). The culinary journey continues with a range of other Asian delicacies, such as miso soup, kani salad, kimchi, tofu salad, and assorted maki sushi. For those with a taste for Continental cuisine, options include steaks, slow-braised beef with radish and red wine, chicken with chili paprika and herbs, pan-fried local sea bass with potato, shrimps, dill and nut, brown butter, as well as a variety of pasta, stir-fry noodles, vegetable pizza, paella, shawarma, chicken tikka, and lamb burger. To conclude this exceptional dining experience, delectable desserts such as egg tarts, cookies, mango and strawberry panna cottas, apple lattice, crepes, and a selection of ice creams await. This represents just a glimpse of the extensive and mouth-watering menu on offer.
