Growing up, McDonald’s was a luxury I couldn’t easily afford. Back in high school, it was the ultimate fad among my classmates—everyone flocked there after classes, enjoying meals their generous allowances could cover without a second thought. I, on the other hand, could only watch from the sidelines, wishing I could join them but knowing it was too expensive for me at the time. Maybe that’s why, now as an adult, I have this small but meaningful fixation on treating myself to McDonald’s at least once a month. And as I travel around Australia, I’ve turned that habit into a fun little quest: trying different McDonald’s locations across the country and noticing how each one offers something slightly unique. This listicle is a collection of those experiences—nostalgic, simple, and surprisingly memorable.
