The Calbayog Airport formally inaugurated its newly constructed passenger terminal building on May 5, 2021. The local officials believe that the resumption of the Calbayog Airport’s operations will play a major role in the resumption of tourism and boosting the fast-growing economy of Calbayog City. I landed here through my Cebu Pacific flight from Mactan, Cebu, and the flight was only about an hour. The excitement in the airport was palpable, with locals eager to welcome travelers back and share the hidden gems of the region. I hope Calbayog will become a gateway to more destinations soon, opening doors to the pristine beaches, lush green mountains, and rich cultural heritage that the city has to offer. As the airport attracts more flights and visitors, I envision a vibrant community that thrives on sustainable tourism and fosters economic growth for local businesses.
