Mataas na Kahoy is one of the eleven Batangas towns surrounding the famous Taal Lake and Volcano. Although considered as a rural town, it is a place where you can find peace of mind, meditation and the healing power of nature. The closest city with centralized transportation hub is Lipa City. We can think of top 3 characteristics we have observed about the people of Mataas na Kahoy. First, they are accommodating to tourists like us. We have never had any issues approaching them for any concerns. Second, they are willing to help as much as they can. We were having difficulty looking for a tricycle back to our accommodation as it was already past 8pm. A senior citizen checked on his neighbors if they can bring us on our destination. One lad offered us a ride back to our airbnb. Third, they love nature. They make sure that Mataasnakahoy maintains its wonderful natural beauty. (Swipe below photo for more pictures)

The town’s church is just walking distance from 7 Eleven Mataas na Kahoy– the stop where jeepneys normally drop their passengers. Make sure you pay a visit to their church before you leave Mataasnakahoy.
