I have been out for a while because of distress. The hackers had consumed my sanity. I didn’t know that what I worked so hard for so many years can be lost in just a snap of stupidity.
TravellingPeoples. A personal travel blog which also wanted to be a travel agency, a hotel and tour booking agency, and then an airline company. Gone. It was. For 4 weeks.
I hope this story will help other netizens not become a victim of people who use their hacking skills in a devilish way. You may find below scenario a bit stupid but many of us can really be stupid sometimes. Please read and if you know some people who can be helped by this blog, please forward this to them.
1.) They will fool you of an offer
How about 3,000 US dollars per month for posting 2 contents a week? That is already reasonable for a page like TravellingPeoples with around 110K followers. What I did not know, the people I am dealing with are Pucking Sheet!
2.) You will receive an email which looks like really coming from Facebook
3.) They will teach you how to do it
4.) The next day, they have gotten your account and kicked you out.
5.) Then they will play innocent. Then block you.
6.) Then, you will try to contact Facebook Support Team. And get disappointed with a generic response. It seems someone in that company is not doing their job. A lazy employee who enjoys the privilege of working in the biggest company in the world. The company which many people dream to land for a job (me included).
7.) Of course, you will get pissed to Jennifer who is not providing the best customer service.
8.) As no reliable help was received online, you decided to visit their headquarters in your country. I am in the Philippines, so I visited the Facebook Headquarters in Menarco Tower, Taguig City. For convenience, you opted to pay for GrabCar which has higher flag rate that time due to traffic. You spent around (1500php) 30 US dollars for the round trip fare and three hours for the traffic. Then the receptionist will give you below card.
It basically says that this office can’t help. Please route your query to facebook.com/help
9.) You have to contain your emotion. You do not want to be dragged by security guards out of the building. Just channel it to a Facebook rant.
10.) Post to your lost page, informing them about the hacking incident.
11.) Beg the hackers to give it back to you. Give ransom money if you must. This page has been a baby for you. A reasonable amount may do.
12.) Contact again IT Help and get a depressing reply
13.) Reiterate your point. And invent some words such as ‘haggardous’.
14.) Finally they reply again and issue has finally been solved!
