Top 11 Picks in Quán Cơm Phố menu for Summer- Hanoi, Vietnam

Posted by

We first heard about Quán Cơm Phố in Conde Nast traveller and Lonely Planet’s top 100 restaurants in Vietnam. The restaurant is a very good option for travellers who would love to experience authentic homestyle Northern Vietnamese menu which changes every season. The quick service also allows travellers a good option for lunch or dinner, as travellers are always on time constraints due to many places to visit in Hanoi. Travellers will also not have a problem on translators as their menu has English description.

Here our top 11 picks in Quán Cơm Phố menu for Summer!

1.) Cooked Pork Slices with Soya Bean Jam

This is my most favourite in their summer menu. We do not have soya bean jam back  in  the Philippines. And I sincerely liked the mix of cooked pork slices with soya bean jam. It is something new to us.

2.) Deep-fried red snapper

Although the red snapper was deep-fried, it was perfectly not that oily. The food design also entices us to eat the whole platter!

3.) Cơm Phố Spring Rolls

Our third favourite is the Com Pho spring rolls– their own version of spring rolls! It was crunchy at first bite, and then boom. You will have the taste of savoury shrimp  inside which made me request for a take away! This was my dinner in the airport as well.

4.) Hanoi Spring Rolls

Hanoi spring rolls is a very popular dish in Vietnamese restaurants and households. There is something special with Quán Cơm Phố’s Hanoi spring rolls especially if you will dip it on their special vinegar.

5.) Sauté Water Morning Glory

Make sure you include in your order leafy vegetables. Leafy vegetables are good for your stomach. We love the combination of garlic in the saute water morning glory.

6.) Moulting Sea Crab fried with Salt

We all know that a crab has shells. What we love about this menu is all parts are soft and eatable! Kudos to the chefs of Quán Cơm Phố restaurant!

7.) Deep-fried Shrimp with Salted Duck Egg

We currently have a salted duck egg flavour craze in the Philippines starting from potato chips and pop corns. But we never have thought that it is also a best flavouring for deep-fried shrimps. I had a take away of this one!

8.) Deep-Fried Shrimp with Salt and Chillies

The shrimp are deep fried but you will have the first impression that they are steamed. The food is not that oily and you will love the combination of shrimp, salt, and chillies!

9.) Grilled Chicken with Deep-fried Glutinous Rice Rolls

The chicken is grilled well and very tasty. Duc, the restaurant’s manager, advised me that they marinate the chicken to have its rich flavours. You would also not need to order steamed rice for this one as they have deep-fried glutinous rice on the side.

10.) Deep-fried Soft Crab with Bread Crumb

I have a new favourite in the bread crumb category. Before, I just love pork chops and fried chicken with bread crumb. Now, I prefer the deep-fried soft crab with bread crumb. All parts are soft and eatable.  I wish I can find something similar like this in the Philippines or I hope I can go back to Quán Cơm Phố restaurant.

11.) Grilled Egg Plant

I included this in our top 11 picks because my girlfriend super loves egg plants! I was sad that she was not with me during Travellingpeoples’ Hanoi trip. Eating this eggplant makes me remember her. How about bringing her in Quán Cơm Phố restaurant next time? And then, while she is enjoying her egg plant dish, she accidentally bit a ring? What do you think?

Mr. Nguyen also started a pottery art shop. You can visit this in the restaurant’s second floor while waiting for your food.
