Puerto Princesa has been acclaimed several times as the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines. I once watched a TV feature of the city when I was a kid. After that, I included it in my bucket list.
Here are the 5 Activities you can do in Puerto Princesa Palawan:
1.) Visit Puerto Princesa Subterranean National Park
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean National Park is part of the New7Wonders and UNESCO World Heritage sites list. You would need a permit from the Municipal office before going to the park. Once you have a permit, you need to rent a van and a boat to reach your destination.
Before going to the park, my girlfriend conceptualised our outfits for the photo op. Me as a pirate, She as a fairy.
2.) Eat Vietnamese Food
There would be many Vietnamese restaurants owned by Vietnamese families who fled to the Philippines after the fall of South Vietnam in 1975. It would be good to taste authentic Vietnamese cuisine without really spending a direct flight to Vietnam.
3.) Visit the Crocodile Farm
Below photo is the skin of the largest recorded crocodile in Luzon. According to our guide, ‘the crocodile died because of stress!’
The visit has been an eye-opener that stress really kills.
4.) Do a staycation in a garden inn
Although there are more beach hotels and resorts in Puerto Princesa, we suggest you do a staycation to one of the city’s few garden inns. We did not regret the experience as the inn is very full of positive ions. We had our breakfast and books read by the garden shaded with high standing trees.
5.) Watch the sunset in Puerto Princesa Port
Before we end our three day stay, we looked for the best spot of the sunset. The hotel staffs advised us to go to Puerto Princesa Port. Unfortunately, that time, we arrived late. The circle of the sun was already beneath the mountains!
